ChaCha Lookup

ChaCha Lookup is a script you can install on your site. When a visitor selects text on your site, a button will become available to form the selection into a question and present them with answers (go ahead and try it on this site). The thought is that if people do not understand something, they will copy and paste it into a search, leaving your site. ChaCha Lookup is designed as a way to retain your visitors.

This project was designed for ChaCha's ChallengePost.com contest.

Install on Your Site

• Line #1 is optional if you already have jQuery installed on your site.
• Line #5, "default" can be replaced with a url to a stylesheet that you customize to match your design. The url must start with http:// to be recognized as such.
• Anytime a user "selects" text on your site, they will be given an option to look up the answer.

Other Uses

On text that you might want to already provide this functionality for, you can wrap your text with a span tag, such as:

We live in the <span class="chacha_help" data-question="Where is the milky way in the universe">Milky Way</span> galaxy.

• This span tag must have the class "chacha_help". The formed question to bring up the correct information will be in an attribute named "data-question"
